problem installing operating system

When trying to install Mandriva 2006 32bit the screen freezes up 3 or 4 minutes into the install. I tried Suse32bit, Ubuntu64bit, Zandros 32bit and they all freeze up at the same point. Also at the start up I get
" serial _ch0 master no device serial _ch1 master no device" followed by unknown Bios Error 0163. Is all of this due to one problem or do I have several problems to deal with? With my system which Bio update do I need?

Asus K8V-X MB
Sempron 2800 64 bit cpu
512 MB Crucial ram
FX 5500 256mb Video card
80g Seagate HD ata 100
