Yesterday I went to a website providing free password. After that, my computer was highly infected by spyware...popups....

I think my computer is hijacked or sth...Now, the popup windows from different websites come out about every 5 minutes...I downloaded the hijack this...and deleted all the stuff(I know it's wrong to do that, but don't know what should I do)...But the problems still continue.

Below is my Hijack log(after deleting):

Hi shootingmoney

Welcome to G2G! :whistling:

The first thing I need you to do is re-download Hijack This. Right now you have it in a temp folder. It will not run properly when run from there. Please do this:

* Click here to download HJTsetup.exe
  • Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
  • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
  • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
  • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
  • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Before you post the new Hijack This log, do the following:

* Click here to download Look2Me-Destroyer.exe and save it to your desktop.
  • Close all windows before continuing.
  • Double-click Look2Me-Destroyer.exe to run it.
  • Put a check next to Run this program as a task.
  • You will receive a message saying Look2Me-Destroyer will close and re-open in approximately 10 seconds. Click OK
  • When Look2Me-Destroyer re-opens, click the Scan for L2M button, your desktop icons will disappear, this is normal.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove L2M button.
  • You will receive a Done Scanning message, click OK.
  • When completed, you will receive this message:
    • Done removing infected files! Look2Me-Destroyer will now shutdown your computer
  • Click OK then your computer will shutdown.
  • Wait 60 seconds then turn your computer back on.
  • Please post the contents of C:\Look2Me-Destroyer.txt and a new HiJackThis log.
If Look2Me-Destroyer does not reopen automatically, reboot and try again.

If you receive a message from your firewall about this program accessing the internet please allow it.

If you receive a runtime error '339' please download MSWINSCK.OCX from the link below and place it in your C:\Windows\System32 Directory.

Also I notice that you don't have the usual O4 entries in your Hijack This log. These represent the apps that run when your computer starts. There are several that you should have there like the entries for your antivirus. Did you use Hijack This to fix any of the O4 entries before you posted the log?

* Click Start > Run > and type in:

services.msc

Click OK.

In the services window find Task Scheduler.
Rightclick and choose "Properties". On the "General" tab under "Service Status" click the "Start" button to start the service. Beside "Startup Type" in the dropdown menu select "Automatic". Click Apply then OK. Exit the Services utility.

Try Look2Me-Destroyer again.

I have checked the setting of task scheduler(in fact, it was same as the setting as you said), but the look me to destroyer still cannot reopen by itself.

Well you made a major mistake fixing all those entries with Hijack This. Some of what you fixed were legitimate and needed. Your antivirus active protection was one of them. As it stands now, you basically have no virus protection. You should never use any tools like Hijack This or any other tool that makes changes to the registry unless you know what you are doing.

This mistake is further complcated by the fact that you had Hijack This in a temp folder when you used it to remove those entries. Therefore, they cannot be restored from the backups that Hijack This creates. You will probably have to uninstall then reinstall your antivirus so it will load at startup.

I will ask you to please refrain from doing anything other than what I ask you to do throughout this cleanup process. Venturing out on your own and trying other things will only create more work for us to do.

I'm not sure what is preventing Look2Me-Destroyer from running so we are going to use another method. Please do the following:

* Download L2mfix from here or here.
  • Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe.
  • Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts.
  • Open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop.
  • Double click l2mfix.bat and click Accept after reading the agreement.
  • At the next screen, press any key on your keyboard to continue.
  • Select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter.
  • This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening.
  • After a minute or two, notepad will open with a log.
  • Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.
  • IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!
* Note: If you receive an error while running option #1 like: ''C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe
C:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt the system file is not suitable for running ms-dos and microsoft windows applications, choose close to terminate the application.."...then do one of the following:
  • 1: Click on the l2mfix.bat again and choose option # 5 for Fix Autoexec.nt/cmd.exe error.
2: Alternatively, you can click the fixautont.html link in the l2mfix folder and follow the directions there.
  • Do not run the fix portion without fixing the error first.
  • After you have performed the procedures to fix the error, repeat the steps above to run option #1 for Run Find Log.

* Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.
  • Open the l2mfix folder and double click l2mfix.bat.
  • Select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 then pressing enter.
  • Your desktop and icons will disappear (this is normal).
  • L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, it will be ready for a reboot.
  • Press any key to reboot.
  • After the reboot notepad will open with a log.
  • Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.
  • IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!
  • If after the reboot the log does not open, double click on it in the l2mfix folder.
