:whistling: ok I'm having trouble with staying connected to the internet isp said nothing was wrong with their side so im thinking along the lines of a virus my side X__X; i might just be abit overreacting but to save me from buying a new bb modem i wanna know if it is a virus before hand ^^;;; (just to save me from forking out some $$ if it was a virus ^^;:blink: ok Heres my log sorry in advance if there isn't a virus and for wasting the helpers time if there isn't a virus >_<; I'd appreciate it if i get a all clear if my computer hasn't got anything wrong with it, Thanks:

Edit: Yes I have set the auto disconnect if im idle off... so that isn't the problem unfortunatly D:

Hello, welcome to the GeekstoGo Forums!

My name is Justin, and I will be helping you clean up your system. I am sorry for the delay in our response to your post. We try to get every topic, but sadly, topics do slip through the cracks. Lets get started!

You are running HijackThis from the Desktop; please create a new folder for it and move the program into the new folder

Please reopen HiJackThis and scan your computer. Please place a check mark next to the following entries. Be sure to select only the entries that are listed below, as deleting the wrong file could cause harm to your system.

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ErrorGuard] C:\Program Files\ErrorGuard\ErrorGuard.Exe

Next, please close all programs except for HiJackThis, and select Fix Checked.
Reboot your computer and boot into safe mode.

To boot into safe mode turn your computer on and press f8, continiously, until a menu appears. At this menu please select safemode

Once in safe mode please open Add/Remove Programs
    Click on Start
    Select Control Panel
    Select Add/Remove Programs
Please delete the following files from Add/Remove Programs.

ErrorGuard

Please note any programs that you do not recognize in Add/Remove programs and list them in your next reply.
Close Add/Remove Programs

Next, open Windows Explorer. The easiest way to do this is:
    Click Start
    Select Run
    Type in Explorer
While in Windows Explorer, please delete the following Files, if they are found. Please note thay you may not find the files, please let me know if you do not find them.

C:\Program Files\Alias\Maya7.0\docs\jre\bin\java.exe

In Windows Exploer, please delete the following Folders, if they are found.

C:\Program Files\ErrorGuard

Please exit Windows Explorer and reboot you computer normally.
In your next reply, please post a new HiJackThis log, also let me know how the system is running.

Please run the following scan, make sure you run it from Internet Explorer.

Im hoping you can stay connected long enough to run this scan, if not, we will try a different one.

Please go HERE to run Panda's ActiveScan
  • Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
  • A new window will open...click the Check Now button
  • Enter your Country
  • Enter your State/Province
  • Enter your e-mail address and click send
  • Select either Home User or Company
  • Click the big Scan Now button
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
  • When download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan
  • When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location. Post the contents of the ActiveScan report

Hello!

Please Delete your cookies from either IE or Firefox, depending on which you use. If you do not know how to do this, let me know what internet browser you use, and I will talk you through it.

Also, empty your recycling bin, if there is anything in it.

After you do the above, reboot your computer and rerun PandaScan and post a new log for me to look at. :whistling:

Hello!

Sorry about that, I totally spaced that you had already uninstalled ErrorGuard. Panda is flagging the Registry Entry, so lets get rid of it.

Download this file: Attached File  SicRegEdit.zip (178bytes)
Number of downloads: 35

Boot your computer into Safemode, by restarting your computer and continuly pressing F8 until a menu appears asking you to boot into Safemode.

Once in safemode, please unzip SicRegEdit to your desktop.

Then Double Click on SicRegEdit, and when asked if you want to merge with the registry, select yes.

Reboot into normal windows and play around a bit on your system and tell me if things have improved.

We have a couple of last steps to perform and then you're all set.

First, let's reset your hidden/system files and folders. System files are hidden for a reason and we don't want to have them openly available and susceptible to accidental deletion.
    * Click Start.
    * Open My Computer.
    * Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
    * Select the View tab.
    * Under the Hidden files and folders heading UNSELECT Show hidden files and folders.
    * CHECK the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    * Click Yes to confirm.
    * Click OK.

Next, let's clean your restore points and set a new one:

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs from changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected)
    1. Turn off System Restore.
      On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
      Click Properties.
      Click the System Restore tab.
      Check Turn off System Restore.
      Click Apply, and then click OK.

    2. Restart your computer.

    3. Turn ON System Restore.
      On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
      Click Properties.
      Click the System Restore tab.
      UN-Check Turn off System Restore.
      Click Apply, and then click OK.

System Restore will now be active again.

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programs:
  • SpywareBlaster to help prevent spyware from installing in the first place.
  • SpywareGuard to catch and block spyware before it can execute.
  • IESpy-Ad to block access to malicious websites so you cannot be redirected to them from an infected site or email.

You should also have a good firewall. Here are 3 free ones available for personal use(You only need one, but there are multiple good ones to pick from):and a good antivirus (these are also free for personal use)(You only need one, but there are multiple good ones to pick from:It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated.

To keep your operating system up to date visitmonthly. And to keep your system clean run these free malware scannersweekly, and be aware of what emails you open and websites you visit.

To learn more about how to protect yourself while on the internet read this article by Tony Klien: So how did I get infected in the first place?

Have a safe and happy computing day!

I dont see anything in your log that would contribute to your internet disconnects. I would reccomend posting in our Internet forum, located here

Post back and let me know if you are still having any other problems
