Hey there badmonur.

Do you have any disks inside the cd drive???? Are there any temp windows installtion files on the root directory???

LEt me know, both these things can cause this to happen. So to fix them just take out the disk or delete any temp installation files.

Coool :whistling:

Hi badmonur...

Open Computer Management...Right click on "My Computer" and choose "Manage". In the console tree, right-click "Computer Management (Local)", and then select "Properties". On the "Advanced" tab, under "Startup and Recovery", click "Settings".

Under 'System startup", in the "Default operating system" drop down menu, what is lited?

As I thought...there's an incomplete setup on there. Let's take a look at the boot.ini file.

Go back to the window where you found that information and click the "Edit" button under the drop down menu. Copy/Paste the information from the notepad window to your next reply for me.

Open the boot.ini in notepad...if it isn't still open, delete the text in red below, click "File" on the toolbar, and choose "Save". In the "Default Operating System drop down menu, select "Microsoft Windows XP professional/neoexicute=optin fastdetect", and click "Ok". Click "Apply" then "Ok" in the "System "Properties" dialog window. Close all open windows and reboot.

Better?

[Boot Loader]
Timeout=5
Default=C:\$WIN_NT$.~BT\BOOTSECT.DAT
[Operating Systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
C:\$WIN_NT$.~BT\BOOTSECT.DAT="Microsoft Windows XP Professional Setup"

Hmmmm...Hidden partition setup files, I'll bet. That would be the only reason that would it be protected.

Click Start, then Run, type msconfig, and click "Ok".

Under the "BOOT.INI" tab, select multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect, and click on the "Set Default" button.

In the "Timeout" box, change the 5 to 0.

Click "Apply" then "Ok". Reboot.

How about now...better?

Let's see if we can edit it using command prompt.

Click Start, then Run, type cmd, and click "Ok".

At the prompt in the command window, type the following, pressing "Enter" after each one:

bootcfg /default /ID1

bootcfg /timeout0
