Hi whenever i start my rome total war barbarian invasion game i seem to encounter the same proplem.

The writing is blacked out and the game becomes laggy and then freezes.
This always occurs on the campaign and i have found that quick battles work better as i can play but the writing is still blacked out.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled and the same problem occurs.

Could it be down to drivers?
The graphics are ok on the start up movie.

Thanks

Salmon

Ok, first and simplest, delete of the save game points except for one you really want. Next I am going to ask you to do some Spring cleaning which may not solve the problem but at least it should do the comp good and rule out machinebloat as a cause, sorry this is going to take you some time but it is in a good cause.

Time to use your "runbox" to clean your computer,
(all these steps are done with the run box then)

Run Box
find and press the keys; the Windows flag botton and the R botton together(up pops the runbox)
(all these steps can be simply done by typing commands in the run box then)

Step1 deleting the prefetch files
type, or cut/paste this to runbox: prefetch
press: enter
(the prefetch folder opens)
press: Ctrl botton with the A botton(select all is the same)
press: shift + delete botton(deletes with prompt)

Step2 disc clean up
type or cut/paste this to runbox: cleanmgr.exe
choose drive(normally C: but comps differ)
press: enter(this process can take a long time)

Step3 disc defragmenter
type or cut/paste this to runbox: dfrg.msc
press enter(this process can take a long time)

Step4 checkdisk
type, or cut/paste this to runbox: chkdsk /f /r
press: enter( black window appears)
press: Y botton
press: enter
reboot the computer(this process is the longest, worse the screen may be lost before hours later the computer arrives at the welcome screen)

Last download the final clean up.
cleanup

Could it be a driver problem?

What i would try is getting the latest drivers for your gfx card, get these from the nvidia website, OR get the omega drivers for nvidia(just google). Make sure your total war is patched all up to date, and make copies of your saves.

If the drivers dont work i would next try reinstalling it. Flea can fill you in if you have any questions.
