Hi baracis

Welcome to geekstogo ;)

Please read through the instructions before you start (you may want to print this out).

Please download and install these programs - don't run them yet!!

Please download and unzip
About:Buster to a folder. Inside the folder is a readme file that has instructions on the use of the program.
AboutBuster MUST be updated before you use it.
Start AboutBuster, click the update button, check for update, drag the box to the side and hit download updates, close the box . Don't run it yet.

Please download and install AD-Aware.
Check Here on how setup and use it - please make sure you update it first.

Download and unzip cwsserviceremove to your desktop. use either link below:
cwsserviceremove
cwsserviceremove.zip

Download CW-Shredder at the link below:
CWShredder

Open Windows Explorer & Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked.
Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and untick "hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
Click "Apply" then "OK"

For anyone using Windows XP, 'Search' will not automatically show hidden files even if your folder options settings are set to do that. Do this so you can see hidden files and folders - Click here to download xphidden.zip. Extract xphidden.reg from the zip file and save it to the desktop. When done, double-click the xphidden.reg and when asked to merge say yes.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Here's the fix:

Important Step
1. Go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the service called:

Service: Network Security Service (_%AF___) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\netqn32.exe

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, click the Stop button, then click on properties and under the General Tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok and close any open windows. If you dont find this service listed go ahead with the next steps.

2. Reboot into Safe Mode: Click here if you don't know how to do this.

3. Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete once -> Click Task Manager -> Click the Processes tab -> Double-click the Image Name column header to alphabetically sort the processes -> Scroll through the list and look for:

C:\WINDOWS\smqje.dll/sp.html#96676
C:\WINDOWS\system32\sdkwe32.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\netqn32.exe

If you find the files, click on them, and then click End Process -> Exit the Task Manager.

4. CLOSE ALL WINDOWS AND BROWSERS Scan with HijackThis and put checks next to all the following,

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\smqje.dll/sp.html#96676
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\smqje.dll/sp.html#96676
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = res://C:\WINDOWS\smqje.dll/sp.html#96676
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\smqje.dll/sp.html#96676
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\smqje.dll/sp.html#96676
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\smqje.dll/sp.html#96676
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\smqje.dll/sp.html#96676
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = http://search.usefulware.com
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://search.usefulware.com
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {C21F4801-EA95-4D83-3BD6-486E15CF2B50} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\sdkwe32.dll
O23 - Service: Network Security Service (_%AF___) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\netqn32.exe

Then click on "Fix Checked"

5. Using Windows Explorer delete the following files if present:
If you get an error when deleting a file. Right click on the file and check to see if the read only attribute is checked. if it is uncheck it and try again.

C:\WINDOWS\smqje.dll/sp.html#96676
C:\WINDOWS\system32\sdkwe32.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\netqn32.exe

(and any other files with the same name that end in .dll, .exe or .dat, you may find them right next to each other, example - appsw.exe, appsw.dll, appsw.dat)

6. Run AboutBuster . This will scan your computer for the bad files and delete them. Save the report (copy and paste into notepad or wordpad and save as a .txt file) and post a copy back here when you are done with all the steps.

7. Scan with AdAware and let it remove any bad files found.

8. Clean out temporary and TIF files. Go to Start > Run and type in the box: cleanmgr. Let it scan your system for files to remove. Make sure these 3 are checked and then press *ok* to remove:

Temporary Files
Temporary Internet Files
Recycle Bin

9. Double click on the cwsserviceremove and when asked to merge say yes.

10. Run CW-Shredder - Hit the FIX button - let it run and fix what it finds.

11. Reboot into normal mode.

12. Download the Hoster from here http://members.aol.c...bee/hoster.zip. Press "Restore Original Hosts" and press "OK". Exit Program.

13. Download and run this online virus scan:
http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp
Make sure you check "AutoClean"

Please reboot and post a fresh HijackThis.log to see how we did.

Hi baracis

Here's the fix: We have still some coolwebsearch items to remove

Important Step
1. Go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the service called:

Service: Network Security Service (_%AF___) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\netqn32.exe" /s

Service: Network Security Service (NSS) ( 6Q_'8) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\netfa32.exe

C:\WINDOWS\system32\netqn32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\ntqd.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\netfa32.exe

If you find the files, click on them, and then click End Process -> Exit the Task Manager.

4. CLOSE ALL WINDOWS AND BROWSERS Scan with HijackThis and put checks next to all the following,

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {BFBF7402-6F56-197C-30EF-A2D7ABD52E16} - C:\WINDOWS\ntqd.dll
O16 - DPF: {56336BCB-3D8A-11D6-A00B-0050DA18DE71} (RdxIE Class) - http://software-dl.r...ip/RdxIE601.cab
O23 - Service: Network Security Service (_%AF___) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\netqn32.exe" /s (file missing)
O23 - Service: Network Security Service (NSS) ( 6Q_'8) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\netfa32.exe

Then click on "Fix Checked"

5. Using Windows Explorer delete the following files if present:
If you get an error when deleting a file. Right click on the file and check to see if the read only attribute is checked. if it is uncheck it and try again.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\netqn32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\ntqd.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\netfa32.exe

12. Download the Hoster from here Press "Restore Original Hosts. and press "OK". Exit Program.

13. Download and run this online virus scan:
http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp
Make sure you check "AutoClean"

Please reboot and post a fresh HijackThis.log to see how we did.

Hi baracis

Please read through the instructions before you start (you may want to print this out).

Please set your system to show all files; Click here for how to do this if you're unsure.

Important Step
1. Go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the service called:
Service: Network Security Service (NSS) ( 6Q_'8) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\netfa32.exe[/B]

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, click the Stop button, then click on properties and under the General Tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok and close any open windows. If you dont find this service listed go ahead with the next steps.

1. Download the Pocket Killbox.http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip
2. Unzip the contents of KillBox.zip to a convenient location.
3. Double-click on KillBox.exe.
4. Click "Replace on Reboot" and check the "Use Dummy" box.
5. Paste this file into the top "Full Path of File to Delete" box.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\netfa32.exe

6. Click the "Delete File" button which looks like a stop sign.
7. Click "Yes" at the Replace on Reboot prompt.
8. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.
9. Repeat steps 4-8 above for these files:
C:\WINDOWS\apiqy.dll
C:\WINDOWS\apivv32.exe

10. Click "Replace on Reboot" and check the "Use Dummy" box.

Reboot into safemode
Safe Mode: see here if you don't know how to do this

Close any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items.

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {B7D83F45-8F8F-FC34-07CB-44D764802089} - C:\WINDOWS\apiqy.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [apivv32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\apivv32.exe
O23 - Service: Network Security Service (NSS) ( 6Q'8) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\netfa32.exe

Click on Fix Checked and exit HijackThis.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:

C:\WINDOWS\apiqy.dll
C:\WINDOWS\apivv32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\netfa32.exe

Exit Explorer, and reboot as normal afterwards.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. ;)

Hi baracis

Please set your system to show all files; Click here for how to do this if you're unsure.

Important Step
1. Go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the service called:

Service: Network Security Service (NSS) ( 6Q'8) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\netfa32.exe [/B]

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, click the Stop button, then click on properties and under the General Tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok and close any open windows. If you dont find this service listed go ahead with the next steps.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items.[/b]

Network Security Service (NSS) ( 6Q'8) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\netfa32.exe

Click on Fix Checked and exit HijackThis.

Download the ccleaner
I use this Program and is setup like this all boxs are check.

Clean out all temp files in Mozilla, Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer: Tools/ Internet Options/ General/ Temporary internet files/ Delete Files (NOTE, that this may take very long!). You can also set the memory limit to about 80 MB at the Settings.

Mozilla: Edit/ Options/ Extended/ Cache/ Clear Cache

ActiveX Controls could do with a big cleanup. Open your browser and go to Tools > Internet Options and click on the General Tab. Click on Settings (next to Temporary Internet Files) and then click on View Objects. Rightclick on each and choose Properties. If there is anything there that you dont know what it is (microsoft, apple, macromedia etc are OK) or where it came from, delete it. If there are any damaged controls there, delete those also. If any are needed, you will be prompted to download them again anyway.

Lets clean out Windows Prefetch: C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch\ Delete all the files in this folder, this is safe it will not do any harm to your computer

Empty your recycle bin.

Turn of system restore
Disabling or enabling Windows XP System Restore

Defrag your hard drive turn system restore back on and create a new restore point.

Please run the following free, online virus scans: Please post the logs From both virus scans and HJT we will need them to remove previous infections that have left files on your system.
http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp
http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm

Please post the three log into this same topic

Thanks

Hi baracis

Download the ccleaner
I use this Program and is setup like this all boxs are check.

Clean out all temp files in Mozilla, Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer: Tools/ Internet Options/ General/ Temporary internet files/ Delete Files (NOTE, that this may take very long!). You can also set the memory limit to about 80 MB at the Settings.

Mozilla: Edit/ Options/ Extended/ Cache/ Clear Cache

Turn of system restore
Disabling or enabling Windows XP System Restore

Defrag your hard drive turn system restore back on and create a new restore point.

Check your firewall is not blocking the two virus scans.
Please run the following free, online virus scans: Please post the logs From both virus scans and HJT.log we will need them to remove previous infections that have left files on your system.

http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm

Then restart your computer one more time and post a new HJT log
