If it doesn't stop you using the PC, my preference is for checking the availability of the installation disc to do it the Symantec way

However, if it is causing problems, post in and we can look at removing it

Please go here:

Malware Removal Guide

You will need a PC which can connect to the internet

Run all the programmes as advised then post a current Hijack This Log in a new topic in the Malware Forum

For the purpose of accurate malware analysis, Hijack This Logs are only dealt with in the Malware Forum. Posting them anywhere else will result in a delayed response

If you are unable to run any of the programmes, ask for advice in the Malware Forum

thanks for that info .im gonna deal with that one when im alone at home.but i did find the security that was an update that stop activex. when i updated norton last night i got error on the antivirus part. so i checked on it and it says down load live update. this site requires activex. the windows security kb912812 stops activex but norton live update needs this update. get it. think microsoft explorer and norton should have a cup of coffee over this one.

Saw this

The IE Compatibility Patch reverts the IE Active X update behavior contained in the April Security update (KB912812). This patch should be used by customers who have experienced compatibility issues and who require more time to test/update websites and programs that are impacted by the IE Active X update. This patch is temporary, and will only apply to KB912812. This IE compatibility patch will not be available for future security updates. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.
