I think I have my system cleared of malware, but I get serious lag and slowdown when running games. My system has plenty of juice to run them smoothly. Could this be caused by malware? Here is my logfile

Bump for assistance. The stuttering is really getting bad. It doesn't only happen during games, I've also noticed it a lot when burning or downloading music with Itunes. Please help.

Welcome to Geeks to Go! :tazz:

You may wish to print out a copy of these instructions to follow while you complete this procedure.

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items, then click fix checked.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer,SearchAssistant = http://www.search-1.net/search.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapp.../search/ie.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,Default_Search_URL = http://www.searchdot.net
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,SearchURL = http://ie.search.psn.cn/
O16 - DPF: {1C78AB3F-A857-482E-80C0-3A1E5238A565} - file://C:\install.cab

Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).

Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files/folders (if found):

C:\install.cab

Reboot your PC.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. ;)

Thank you very much for your help. I did everything that you asked except delete c:\install.cab, which I could not find, even in a hidden folder. The stuttering is still there, but it does not seem to be as bad. I'm afraid it may be a hardware issue. Here is my new logfile.

F:\Hijack\hijackthis\HijackThis.exe
