Hi Everyone, and thanks for your help in advance,

Recently, I re-installed Windows XP, as you have to do every so often thanks to Microsoft, and now I cannot open any documents that I had transfered over, which include very important stuff such as school reports, advancement records, and applications, etc.

I've tried everything I can think of, including the tools in Office such as "Open and Recover" and "Recover text in any document," and all have failed, saying "Word expirenced an error when opening the file" and continues to expain that it is probably a permissions issue.

I do not use any passwords on my documents, and I have reset the permissions on the file by right clicking it and changing the owner and user rights. The problem is that I think the SID (an ID number related to a specific user account) of my old login name is burried somewhere in the permissions within the file.

Any Ideas, anyone?

Thanks,
Ryan
