So I too have a Dr. Watson malware problem. I have Windows XP and have SP2.

I lost access to IE temporarily, but was able to gain it back once I deleted everything I could on Disk Cleanup. I was unable to delete temporary internet files as Disk Cleanup, IE, or windows explorer (which ever I used to try to delete it) closes. I was able to access the temporay internet files when I searched the Documents and Setting Folder on safe mode, and deleted all but about 10 files (can't view them anymore). Whenever I tried to delete them, windows explorer closed. I followed all the steps required and here is the Hijackthis log below. I feel like I am gradually losing access to windows explorer as it seems to crash more often.

Please help me. ..thanks much in advance :tazz:

I managed to solve the problem. It seems like what I was experiencing was quite different from what other people were, but I'll list the solution I found here just in case someone else runs into a similar one.

So my problem was in the temporary internet file folder (as indicated in the previous post, I was unable to delete them; Windows explorer, IE, Disc Cleanup all closed when I attempted to do so and it was followed by an error message by Dr. Watson Post Mortem Debugger). There were about 4GB of temporary internet file that I couldn't delete (of about 10-15 files, 2 took up most of the 4GB). Under safemode, I couldn't see these files.

My solution was simple. I created another account with admin privlige and logged on using that. Then I was able to delete the files and that seemed to have done the job.

Don't know why, but it worked and thats all that matters to me.

Although no one replied, you guys are still awesome for running this site. :tazz:

ciao.

Hi owensshaun

Download the ccleaner
I use this Program and is setup like this all boxs are check.

Clean out all temp files in Mozilla, Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer: Tools/ Internet Options/ General/ Temporary internet files/ Delete Files (NOTE, that this may take very long!). You can also set the memory limit to about 80 MB at the Settings.

Mozilla: Edit/ Options/ Extended/ Cache/ Clear Cache
