We lost the ability to connect to MSN messenger about a month ago. I have tried to redownload several times but to no avail. I checked the firewall settings ane readjusted to medium. On the firewall I clicked msn messenger to axxept but it did not work either. I tried to download an older version and nothing, The message says unable to connect check proxy settings or firewall settings. I have a Lan connection. I am stuck at this point what to do.

Hi, and welcome to Geeks To Go!

Start > Control Panel > (left pane) Switch to classic view > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings > Tick Automatically detect settings > Click OK, and OK again, reboot. Run MSN.

Ok I tried that and it was already ticked off. I clicked it off and checked it again. Anything else I can do.
