Whenever I try to do windows update on the microsoft website it gives me the following error message. "The website has encountered a problem and cannot display the page you are trying to view error# 0X80072EED" Gives is after I choose either Express or Custom update. Does anyone know what might be causing this problem. Maybe a pervious updater or something, any advice would really help. Thanks

Step four
Are you getting a specific error message?
If so, go here and check it

http://v5.windowsupd...t.aspx?ln=en-us

Step five

Start >Run, type
regsvr32 jscript.dll
<enter>

Step six

Download and install the following

http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en]http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en

Step seven
If you are using an antivirus program (and you should be), temporarily disable it...usually done with a right click of the icon in your system tray next to the clock. If Windows Update works, contact your antivirus program vendor for an update.

Step eight
Rebooting your computer to safe mode
login as the "Administrator"
rename "c:\windows\system32\catroot2" to "c:\windows\system32\catroot2old."

Step 9
If all the above have failed, open c:\windows\windowsupdate.log in notepad, choose Edit > Select All from menu, hit the DEL key. Save the file. Visit Windows update again. After failure, ATTACH (do not copy and paste) the c:\windows\windowsupdate.log to your next post and someone will come along and help you.
