Hi
I am hoping to develop a magazine style web site. I have the handle on producing all the content for magazine, and have help with actual design of site. What i am struggling with is actual web building.
I need a really great site. this site www.getlippy.com is closest to what i am looking for in terms of ease of navigation/layout.

But as new start up i need inexpensive help from an expert. Someone pointed me to http://www.ijoomla.com/mag
but they suggest you need basic skills even for this!!
As my site will need to be updated weekly, is anyone here a new start up too perhaps and would be interested in cutting me a deal? Once, and if my site is up and running and successful i would happily be able to pay a proper fee for your services.

many thanks for your time and any suggestions greatly received.
cheers.

so, do you want somebody to help you (teach you) to build the site? or do you need someone to design the site for you? in both cases I can help you. in the first one it's free of course but if you want somebody to design a site for you, i find it hard that someone will do that.

Yes i was hoping to buy and use this package http://www.ijoomla.com/mag/
but even this i believe would be difficult without some experience. And my problem is the weekly updates. It is a fashion site so I will be busy with producing all the contents and getting images together. because it is so labour intensive i will not be working and for a period no income! that is my problem, but of course i do not expect anyone to be able to help for no payment.
bit stuck really! How much should i realistically look to spend for a site like http://www.getlippy.com with similar content/pages numbers etc. many thanks for any advice.

i don't know, i've seen HUGE variations in prices, since i visit a freelancer site, i see projects from 300 dollars to 5000 dollars. realistically, i'd work on a site like that for lets say, 500 dollars (i think this is cheap), but only because labor in croatia is pretty cheap and 500 dollars is just about the average monthly sallary here. i don't know how much somebody would pay for updating the site weekly, but I'm sure that if someone would make a template for you, that with a little help you'd be able to update the content yourself

Check out sNews. It's a simple CMS. It's standards compliant, and uses simple CSS for layout. I've used it, and it's smooth and easy to use. Once you get it installed on your server, login and you're set to go.
