Hello guys!

I've been trying to get audio to play on my computer for a while now, I got tired of installing the wrong drivers and such, now I come to you guys!

Motherboard; Genuine Intel® Desktop Board D925XECV2 .
Chipset; Intel® 945P Express Chipset family

and under the list of hardwares, I only get Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus , when I try installing it, it doesn't work.

It did work before, when I had Windows XP pro on the computer, but recently I had to format and re-install windows, and the only CD I had availeble, was a Windows XP Home edition.
I have downloaded SP1 and SP2, and all the recent Microsoft releases.

It's in norwegian, but I will explain the pictures:

Here it asks me to install the driver, and I chose "Automatic" - let windows do the job.

Searches for drivers.

It doesn't find anything!

^There you see the name of the hardware that isn't working.

I don't know what else I can tell you guys ... please reply, tell me if you need more info about the computer.

... getting tired of listening to old albums now!

This is a wild guess, in Device Manager try uninstalling the audio device and then reboot. Windows might the be able to find the drivers on the next startup.

If that doesn't work then make sure you have the right audio driver download. I located the Intel download page here. Try downloading and installing again.

-----

I just noticed that the date on the audio driver is 2006-04-19. Thats less than 1 week old ! Perhaps it is an update to fix problems like the one you have. Good luck.

Hey!
I hurried the prosess a little bit, and got myself another Win XP CD; and installed a fresh copy.

I forgot one thing ...
I'd installed the wrong Chipset, because we'd sendt the PC to be repaired for some weeks ago, they found out it was the motherboard that was broken, they fixed it; I forgot it, now it's all fixed...

Got sound!

Thanks tho :whistling:

Glad to hear you sorted it all out.

Isn't installing the wrong drivers a liitle like putting regular gas in a car that takes premium ? It works, but that causes all sorts of problems. :whistling:

Question,

I do not wish to start a new thread so I was hoping if you guys could help.
My situation as follow;-

I have installed the appropriate driver to the Sound, Video and game controllers to my WinXP Desktop,
however the " audio device on high definition audio bus " indicate it isn't installed/updated.

The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28), To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.

I tried to update/reinstall but the mouse click does not able to bring up anything. :)
Tried to uninstall but it said " Failed to uninstall the device. The device may require to boot up the computer "
Press button OK but nothing happen, tried to restart but still ain't no result.. :) :)

Kindly advice what I should do next... I am totally have no idea whatsoever.. I was thinking to re-format though :)

IF you are running vista then click here and under the first drop down box select 'AUDIO.' Download the driver and extract the zip file. Run the install and and restart when prompted.

I couldn't find the XP driver on the website. However, you can google your make and model followed by XP drivers and try to find your audio driver.

Download, and install Everest: http://www.majorgeek...wnload4181.html
Open it, click Computer, then Summary.
In upper menu, go Report>Quick Report-Summary
Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post.
Don't include anything under the line Debug - PCI

No audio device is even reported, so there is a chance, you may have a problem with on-board sound chip itself, but try this driver: http://www.acerpanam...r...=&areaid=17
