Hi Muggins...

Click Start, then Run, type cmd, and click "Ok". At the command prompt, type regsvr32 appwiz.cpl (Note the space), and press "Enter".

Let me know if this file registers successfully and if it helps the problem.

Hi Wannabe 1. I had the saame problem as Muggins, hence the interest. I tried the suggestion you gave Muggins, but it did not work for me. I also tried sfc /scannow, but that did not fix the problem either.
Any other suggestions Mate, please.

Question for both of you...

What version of Internet Explorer do you have installed? IE5.5 or IE6.0?

Luckyjfl...this one's for you.

Click Start, then click Run. Copy and Paste the following command in the Open box, and then click "Ok":

rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Setup\SETUP.EXE" /g "C:\WINDOWS\IE Uninstall Log.Txt

Because this command is case sensitive, copy and paste it if at all possible. If you have to type it in, it must be exactly as shown.

If this doesn't work, we'll have to have a look in the registry. :whistling:

Well, Wannabe1, gues what it just came back on. It may well have been the suggestion you advised to do. It did not come back on until I rebooted a few times, so I cannot say for sure.
Never the less. thanks for your time and help Mate.

Do you have Service Pack 2 installed Muggins?
that would mean you would have version 6... but
you must have internet explorer on your computer somewhere, mine is located
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer
check the version, if it's version 6 then type what wannabe said:

rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Setup\SETUP.EXE" /g "C:\WINDOWS\IE Uninstall Log.Txt

if its version 5.5 then type

rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE5Maintenance "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Setup\SETUP.EXE" /g "C:\WINDOWS\IE Uninstall Log.Txt

into Start>Run :whistling:
