drive crashed, so bought new drive and installed winxp pro w service pak 2
ran beautiful . even hooked up old drive as slave to save some data and when
finished copying shut down and eliminated the d drive (old drive) and attempted
to reboot, goes to the motions but all I get now is a black screen ?

what happened ?

Does anything show up on your screen during the bootup process? Do you hear any beeps while your computer is booting up?

If the old drive crashed? How where you able to set it upas a slave and move data to your new drive? What this sounds like to me is the windows on the old drive crashed due to a virus so it would not boot. so when you set it up as a slave drive and moved the data you moved the virus with that data and it messed up your new clean install of windows. what you could do at this point is clean off the new drive completely doing a lowlevel format this would make sure that there is no virus on it. and do a reinstall of windows on it.
