I rebooted my machine and now when I click on the shortcut icon to start it nothing happens. It is the same if I go to C:/Program Files/ Mozilla Firefox/Firefox.exe. What can I do to solve this problem? thank you in anticipation :tazz:...Oh here is the highjackthis logfile, hope it's of some use.

I didnt look thru your hijack log, so please excuse me if there is something in there causing your problem, but off the top of my head I can think of two things to check first. sometimes when firefox doesnt open even if I click the shortcut, I open task manager and see a couple instances of it running. if I end those and then click the shortcut again, it almost always works. the other thing is a thread we recently had on here in this section and it was due to having user agent switcher set to IE. the solution is in that thread and the one I posted worked for me when that happened. good luck!

two things grab my attention

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [LDM] C:\Program Files\Logitech\Desktop Messenger\8876480\Program\BackWeb-8876480.exe
O4 - Startup: Screen Saver Control.lnk = C:\WINDOWS\FSScrCtl.exe

You might want to consider removing BackWeb
http://www.iamnotage...om/a/359-p1.php

Unless you actually use it there's no reason to keep FSScrCtrl running
http://www.liutiliti...brary/fsscrctl/
http://www.auditmypc...ss/fsscrctl.asp

Have you added the mydomain bits?

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\VxD\MSTCP: Domain = mydomain.com
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{271327D6-1535-4E40-87C7-F9FC3EB6DEF1}: NameServer = 194.168.4.100 194.168.8.100
O17 - HKLM\System\CS1\Services\VxD\MSTCP: Domain = mydomain.com
O17 - HKLM\System\CS2\Services\VxD\MSTCP: Domain = mydomain.com

To save resources you really don't need to run these
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TkBellExe] "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe" -osboot
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_01\bin\jusched.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

If you don't use Microsoft Works you might consider uninstalling it so it doesn't load it's useless applications everytime you logon.

Offhand I see nothing that specifically would cause firefox problems. I suggest

- backup your firefox profile:
http://kb.mozillazin...:_Tips_:_Backup
http://kb.mozillazin.../Profile_Folder
- uninstall firefox
- delete:
\program files\mozilla firefox
-- you might want to keep a copy of
\program files\mozilla firefox\searchplugins\
\program files\mozilla firefox\plugins\
- download and install the latest version of firefox (1.0.1 at this time)
http://getfirefox.com
- create a FRESH firefox profile
- copy from your backup profile to your fresh profile:
bookmarks.html
cert8.db
cookies.txt
formhistory.dat (optional)
history.dat (optional)
key3.db
secmod.db
signons.txt
- reinstall your extensions
-- visit http://extensionsmirror.nl

Consider installing these fine extensinos:

Addbookmark here
Bookmark backup
TabMix
AdBlock
CookieCuller
Show Failed URL

I hope this helps
