I have tried the suggestions I have found on this site, but I still can't clear my computer. I continue to have the ABout;Blank problem and I constantly have things trying to load, such as appxw32.dll.

Attached is my hijack this log and I would appreciate any help someone can give me!

Hi debbier

Welcome to geekstogo

Please read through the instructions before you start (you may want to print this out).

Please download and install these programs - don't run them yet!!

Please download and unzip
About:Buster to a folder. Inside the folder is a readme file that has instructions on the use of the program.
AboutBuster MUST be updated before you use it.
Start AboutBuster, click the update button, check for update, drag the box to the side and hit download updates, close the box . Don't run it yet.

Please download and install AD-Aware.
Check Here on how setup and use it - please make sure you update it first.

Download and unzip cwsserviceremove to your desktop. use either link below:
cwsserviceremove
cwsserviceremove.zip

Download CW-Shredder at the link below:
CWShredder

Open Windows Explorer & Go to Tools > Folder Options. Click on the View tab and make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is checked.
Also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files" and untick "hide extensions for known file types" . Now click "Apply to all folders"
Click "Apply" then "OK"

For anyone using Windows XP, 'Search' will not automatically show hidden files even if your folder options settings are set to do that. Do this so you can see hidden files and folders - Click here to download xphidden.zip. Extract xphidden.reg from the zip file and save it to the desktop. When done, double-click the xphidden.reg and when asked to merge say yes.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Here's the fix: We have still some coolwebsearch items to remove

Important Step
1. Go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the service called:

Service: Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Helper ( 6Q_'8) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\crmf.exe

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, click the Stop button, then click on properties and under the General Tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok and close any open windows. If you dont find this service listed go ahead with the next steps.

2. Reboot into Safe Mode: Click here if you don't know how to do this.

3. Press Ctrl+Alt+Delete once -> Click Task Manager -> Click the Processes tab -> Double-click the Image Name column header to alphabetically sort the processes -> Scroll through the list and look for:

C:\WINDOWS\iitlw.dll
winis.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\addoa.exe
C:\DOCUME~1\debbie\LOCALS~1\Temp\190.tmp.exe 1 28129
C:\WINDOWS\crmf.exe

If you find the files, click on them, and then click End Process -> Exit the Task Manager.

4. CLOSE ALL WINDOWS AND BROWSERS Scan with HijackThis and put checks next to all the following,

R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = res://C:\WINDOWS\iitlw.dll/sp.html#28129
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\iitlw.dll/sp.html#28129
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\zwqmi.dll/sp.html#28129
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\iitlw.dll/sp.html#28129

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [190.tmp] C:\DOCUME~1\debbie\LOCALS~1\Temp\190.tmp.exe 1 28129
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [update] winis.exe
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.awmdabest.com
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.frame.crazywinnings.com
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.awmdabest.com (HKLM)
O15 - Trusted Zone: *.frame.crazywinnings.com (HKLM)
O15 - Trusted IP range: 206.161.125.149
O16 - DPF: RaptisoftGameLoader - http://www.miniclip....tgameloader.cab
O23 - Service: Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Helper ( 6Q_'8) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\crmf.exe (file missing)

Then click on "Fix Checked"

5. Using Windows Explorer delete the following files if present:
If you get an error when deleting a file. Right click on the file and check to see if the read only attribute is checked. if it is uncheck it and try again.

C:\WINDOWS\iitlw.dll <-- Delete this file
winis.exe <-- Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\addoa.exe <-- Delete this file
C:\DOCUME~1\debbie\LOCALS~1\Temp\190.tmp.exe 1 28129< --Delete all files in the temp folder
C:\WINDOWS\crmf.exe <-- Delete this file

(and any other files with the same name that end in .dll, .exe or .dat, you may find them right next to each other, example - appsw.exe, appsw.dll, appsw.dat)

6. Run AboutBuster . This will scan your computer for the bad files and delete them. Save the report (copy and paste into notepad or wordpad and save as a .txt file) and post a copy back here when you are done with all the steps.

7. Scan with AdAware and let it remove any bad files found.

8. Clean out temporary and TIF files. Go to Start > Run and type in the box: cleanmgr. Let it scan your system for files to remove. Make sure these 3 are checked and then press *ok* to remove:

Temporary Files
Temporary Internet Files
Recycle Bin

9. Double click on the cwsserviceremove and when asked to merge say yes.

10. Run CW-Shredder - Hit the FIX button - let it run and fix what it finds.

11. Reboot into normal mode.

12. Download the Hoster from here Press "Restore Original Hosts. and press "OK". Exit Program.

13. Download and run this online virus scan:
http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp
Make sure you check "AutoClean"

Please reboot and post a fresh HijackThis.log to see how we did.

I had some trouble trying to follow all of these steps. First off, I was able to download and install/run all of the programs. I had problems accessing Windows Explorer to set to "show hidden files and folders.

Next, I was able to follow step 1 and found the RPC file. I was able to disable it.

Then I went into safe mode and processed the taxk manager instructions in #3 but, I did not find any of the 4 listed files.

I ran aboutbuster... here is the report

-- Scan 1 ---------------------------
About:Buster Version 4.0
Reference List : 25

Removed Data Streams:
C:\WINDOWS\addva.exe.tcf:vrrcq
C:\WINDOWS\regedit.exe:gzcih
C:\WINDOWS\sdtwt.dat:lwzcr

Removed 4 Random Key Entries
Attempted Clean Of Temp folder.
Removed Uninstall Key (HSA)
Removed Uninstall Key (SE)
Removed Uninstall Key (SW)
Pages Reset... Done!

I scanned with AdAware and cleaned out temporary files.

I merged the swsserviceremove and then ran CW-Shredder.

After remooting into normal mode, I followed the "restore original hosts" instructions.

Then the problems began again. The Dr.Watson pop up window appeared
I attempted to download and run the houseall virus scan, but received the following error:

The following add-on was running. appaw.dll

Then the error:

IE has problems and needs to close. I ignored this message, hoping tht the scan would continue on its own, but after 35 minutes, I stopped the scan.

I then attempted to run the hijackthis log. but continued to get an Explorer.exe error message and have been unable to get around it to open hijack this log.

Thank you so much for the help you have given. (by the way, just got another Dr. Watson error while typing this)!

Hi debbier

Please rerun the fix: Yes it will take a number off passes

C:\WINDOWS\cigii.dll
C:\WINDOWS\[B]appaw.dll[B]
C:\WINDOWS\system32\[B]addoa.exe[B]
C:\WINDOWS\[B]crta32.exe[B]
C:\WINDOWS\[B]crmf.exe[B]

If you find the files, click on them, and then click End Process -> Exit the Task Manager.

4. [b]CLOSE ALL WINDOWS AND BROWSERS
Scan with HijackThis and put checks next to all the following,

[b]R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\cigii.dll/sp.html#28129
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\cigii.dll/sp.html#28129
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = res://C:\WINDOWS\cigii.dll/sp.html#28129
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\cigii.dll/sp.html#28129
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\cigii.dll/sp.html#28129

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\cigii.dll/sp.html#28129
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\cigii.dll/sp.html#28129
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {C092BF96-AD27-8A9E-E146-A21BCEAC4EC3} - C:\WINDOWS\appaw.dll
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [addoa.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\addoa.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [crta32.exe] C:\WINDOWS\crta32.exe
O9 - Extra button: WeatherBug - {AF6CABAB-61F9-4f12-A198-B7D41EF1CB52} - C:\Program Files\AWS\WeatherBug\Weather.exe (file missing) (HKCU)
O16 - DPF: {33288993-5664-11D4-8B5B-00D0B73B3518} (ell Class) - http://www.easports....ommon/ieell.cab

C:\WINDOWS\[B]cigii.dll[B] <--Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\[B]appaw.dll[B] <--Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\[B]addoa.exe[B] <--Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\[B]crta32.exe[B] <--Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\[B]crmf.exe[B] <--Delete this file

Download the ccleaner
I use this Program and is setup like this all boxs are check.

Clean out all temp files in Mozilla, Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer: Tools/ Internet Options/ General/ Temporary internet files/ Delete Files (NOTE, that this may take very long!). You can also set the memory limit to about 80 MB at the Settings.

Mozilla: Edit/ Options/ Extended/ Cache/ Clear Cache

9. Double click on the cwsserviceremove and when asked to merge say yes.

10. Run CW-Shredder - Hit the FIX button - let it run and fix what it finds.

11. Reboot into normal mode.

12. Download the Hoster from here Press "Restore Original Hosts. and press "OK". Exit Program.

13. Download and run this online virus scan:
http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp
Make sure you check "AutoClean"

Please reboot and post a fresh HijackThis.log to see how we did.

ok, i've run thru this process again, and here is my current hijack log: it seems that no matter how many times I request a fix on the "frame.crazywinnings.com" it will not go away...otherwise in my "rookie" opinion, we are making progress, i do believe!

Thanks so much! You are AWESOME!

Hi debbier

Download and unzip cwsserviceremove to your desktop. use either link below:
cwsserviceremove

cwsserviceremove.zip

I believe we are unable remove the two malware items Microsoft AntiSpyware is stopping us.
You will need to dissable Microsoft AntiSpyware then remove the malware then reactivate Microsoft AntiSpyware.
Click on real-time protection activated
You now have a menu showing 3 Agents are currently active.
Hover your mouse over each one a popup box will appeare chose Deactivate each item.
Double click on the cwsserviceremove and when asked to merge say yes.

Reboot your system

Now reactivate Microsoft AntiSpyware Agents

Please run the following free, online virus scans: Please post the logs From both virus scans and HJT.log we will need them to remove previous infections that have left files on your system.

C:\WINDOWS\pfccw.dll
C:\WINDOWS\ntgs.dll
C:\WINDOWS\msmq32.dll
