My DVD drive is an:

HL-DT-ST DVDRRW GCA-4164B

It has only recently been doing this. I also have a virus, which I'm waiting for help for in the appropriate forum. The virus is a trojan in a restore file (Trojan horse dropper.Generic.DZD). My thread for that forum is: http://www.geekstogo...ZD-t109415.html

I tried to use the troubleshooter, but first and foremost it didn't give me an appropriate initial option. The closest one was the drive reading cds and audio cds, but not dvds. It was always (for some reason) assumed that the it couldn't read dvds.

Hope someone can help.
