ok, nortons is now all gone :whistling:
tried to get into the registry but run/regedit goes nowhere
so I also tried cmd and ended up getting the 16 bit subsystem error c:\windows\sys32.com
the NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal intrusion
CS:014b IP.ff ff ff 13 choose 'close' to terminate

Still kind of messed up, huh...a little more tweaking might be in order...got a baseball bat?

Navigate to C:\Windows\System32 and double click on regedt32.exe Then try to remove the items from the Uninstall key.

LOL LOL LOL, no baseball bat but i have a cricket bat :whistling:
I was able to remove the google toolbar. I could not open msn messenger 7.0 at all so that was listed in the registry so i deleted that as well.

Still cant use cmd or run/regedit

Navigate to C:\Windows\System32 and see if you can locate a file named regedit.com...Let me know if it's there.

Delete it and try regedit from the Run box.

That file was put there by one of the Trojans you had... :whistling:

Next...go back to the System32 folder and look for cmd.com...do the same with it if you find it.

do u know what?.....i think thats it. I think its all cleaned up.
I should be able to get AVG on here and get all the microsoft updates now.
I can't think of anything else i need...can you?

Great!!!!

Try the Windows update real quick and make sure that works...malware has a tendency to mess that up, too. If the update works, I say you're good to go!

OK...All done...all updates installed,avg working,nvidia card back in place and i've also upgraded to XP sp2 and all working fine.
