Hi,
Don't have a clue about computers but think I need to get better aquainted with them so have just bought my first laptop. I have been told that I should upgrade the memory by people I work with but they are stumped as to what I should get to put into it. The spec of it at the moment is here VGN-FS215S The guys I work with don't know why it is PC2700 DDR and not DDR2 running at a faster speed being as the laptop has 533Mhz FSB.
Is it because this model came out before DDR2 or is there some other reason? I am planning to put two 512MB modules into it but need help deciding what would be best. Would the higher speed DDR2 be a waste of time or should it be compatable? Basically what is the best for me to get?
Thanks in advance to anyone who trie to help with this.
Nick.

If it is a DDR1 system then the fastest available will probably be DDR333 as is allready installed but you can check this using the crucial website they have a tool that will detect all the memory types compatible for your system. If you get it from them you get a money back guarantee if it doesnt work as well.
