I'm a dork! Can't set up home network

Got the router, connected everything. Second computer is now on the internet, but I can't set up a network between the two computers. Windows help does nothing but FRUSTRATE! Referring me to commands that don't exist, etc. Can someone help me step by step to network these two computers? Humble Thanks. :whistling:
