computer trying to connect to proxy server

hi i'm trying to stream some music at home but my computer tries to connect to my university proxy server - which i haven't used since last year as i am no longer a student there. Mozilla will connect to the internet, in options i tried clicking on "direct connection to the internet" in tools -> options and deleting the old proxy address but it doesn't seem to work. IE won't connect at all, please help!!! what do i do? :whistling:
