Getting winword.exe error and notice that it will shut down. Cannot open files that I could open only a few days ago. Somehow got a binder option started, but have changed that back, but no success. Have repair the Office 2000 with disk. Still won't work?

Hello don.wyatt...

Open "Add or Remove Programs" from Control Panel. Tick the checkbox at the top to "Show Updates". Scroll down the list and locate Seucurity Update KB908531...if it is there, remove it.

Reboot and try to open your documents.

I checked on the removal, but got message that about 8 programs won't run properly, one of which is the free version of AVG, the others consist of some PC Tools for registry scanning, etc.

Did you remove the update and try opening your documents?
