I am having alot of trouble with my browser sending me to Google.com and there is somehting like "young sex" or "cheap books" in the search field, but I never hit search, of course, but I notice it every time and it is very anoying and I cant get around it. Very agravating, almost every time I click on a hyperlink it does this, it sends me to Google.com with something wierd in the search field. I ran Spybot and Adaware, it found s couple of things, and then I ran Trend Micro PC-Cillin, it founf nothing. all of my programs are up-to-date. I cleared my browser cache and all of that stuff that everyone tells me to do, then I did the HIJACK THIS thing, and it saved a log. Here it is:

Hello sgtdisturbed47 and welcome to Geeks to Go

As an introduction, please note that I am not Superhuman, I do not know everything, but what I do know has taken me years to learn. I am happy to pass on this information to you, but please bear in mind that I am also fallible.

Please note that you should have Administrator rights to perform the fixes. Also note that multiple identity PC’s (family PC’s) present a different problem; please tell me if your PC has more than one individual’s setting, but continue with the fix.

Before we get underway, you may wish to print these instructions for easy reference during the fix, although please be aware that many of the required URLs are hyperlinks in the red names shown on your screen. Part of the fix may require you to be in Safe Mode, which will not allow you to access the internet, or my instructions!

You have been hijacked by Inhoster, Poltavskij Shliax 24, Kharkiv, 61000, Ukraine. Let’s see what we can do with the first sweep.

I notice that you have MSN Messenger plus installed. The file msgplus.exe is distributed as a third party MSN extension. However it is also spyware if installed with the sponsor programme it offers to install. If this optional sponsor programme was installed, this process monitors your browsing habits and distributes the data back to the author's servers for analysis. This also prompts advertising pop-ups.

Unless you definitely know that this programme is NOT your problem, I suggest that you uninstall it, reboot normally, and download a fresh copy, but this time read the EULA and do not grant permission for the third party software.

See this link for further information: http://msmvps.com/bl...4/08/89789.aspx

Firstly could you please disable Windows Defender. Open Windows Defender. Click Tools, and then click General Settings. Under Protection options, clear the Use Windows Defender to help protect my computer check box. Then click Save

Please open Spybot S & D, and turn off Resident Teatimer. Do this by clicking Mode at the top of the screen, choose Advanced Mode then Tools and then Resident and unchecking Teatimer. It will hinder our attempts to clear out some files that need to be removed.

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

When your system reboots, follow the prompts. Afterwards, HijackThis will launch. Please click Scan, and check the following items:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dmffj.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dmffj.exe
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{FCD6C5FE-AA56-4CB5-94A2-B89E7DDE8279}: NameServer = 85.255.114.90,85.255.112.92

Click FIX CHECKED. Close HijackThis, and click OK to proceed.

At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.

Finally, please post the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt, along with a new HijackThis log into this topic.

Hello again

I would be grateful if you would take the time to paste the logs into the post rather than just attaching them.

Please RIGHT-CLICK HERE to download Silent Runner's.
  • Save it to the desktop.
  • Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
  • You will receive a prompt:
    • Do you want to skip supplementary searches?
      click NO
  • You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done, let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
  • Once you receive the prompt All Done!, open the text file on the desktop, copy that entire log, and paste it here.
*NOTE* If you receive any warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.

Please read my signature. How is the PC running now?

Well I don't think I could have made my request much plainer.

In my signature it says something about being courteous, saying thank you.

I don't have to do this. I am a volunteer and as such if I am helping you, I expect you to be grateful and say thank you.

In my last post I also asked you a question which you have ignored.

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Please ensure that you disable your screensaver before scanning. Please note that this scan is very thorough and can be very slow.

Next Click on Launch Kaspersky Anti-Virus Web Scanner

You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
    Extended
    • Scan Options:
    Scan Archives
    Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan:Select My Computer
  • This will program will start and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
    • Now click on the Save as Text button:
  • Save the file to your desktop.
  • Copy and paste that information in your next post.

When I click on Kaspersky Online Scanner, the popup window opens, and I hit Accept and nothing happens. I have ActiveX controls enabled, signed and unsigned, so it's not my settings, it has to be the server from which I am trying to download the ActiveX control from.

It sounds as though the server might be down.

Let's try ActiveScan:

Please download: Panda ActiveScan to your desktop, using Internet Explorer.

- Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
- A new window will open...click the Check Now button
- Enter your Country
- Enter your State/Province
- Enter your e-mail address and click send
- Select either Home User or Company
- Click the big Scan Now button
- If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
- It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
- When download is complete, click on Local Disks to start the scan
- When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location.

Please post that log in your reply.

Here is the log, which seems to be containing cookies and files that I need for a game hack program, so the cookies were deleted, and I wont delete the so-called "adware" that is linked to my necessary hack. This is why I dont like using free online scans, if finds simple little things, makes a big deal out of it, and then they expect me to buy their product, so pls dont ask me to use a free online virus scan again. I have Trend Micro PC-Cillin '05, with current virus definitions allways up tp date, and it found nothing harmful. There may be a few on here that may be doing something, but calling my trusted programs "adware" makes me think twice about using free online scanners.

You may choose what cookies you wish to keep or delete. The reason why online scans are useful is that any AV resident programme is only between 30 - 85% efficient, thus if you change the scanning programme you will get a different result.

All AV scanners will produce false positives, even NOD32.

I will suggest that you delete all your temporary files, but that's your choice.

Click on START > RUN > type in cleanmgr and hit ENTER

You will see a window asking you to choose your harddrive (most likely C: Drive)

Click it and Windows will now scan the drive and show you the results

Make sure the following are checked:Downloaded Program Files
Temporary Internet Files and
Recycle Bin
Compress Old Files (if you want more disk space)

Click OK and Disk Cleanup will delete those files for you.

Next, go to Start>Run>type in %temp% hit Enter and delete the content of all the temp folders shown (only the content, not the folder). A couple of files may be in memory and will not therefore delete, this is normal.

Please post a fresh HJT log from normal mode, plus run HJT and produce a different log?
  • Open HijackThis.
  • Click on "Open Misc Tools Section"
  • Open Uninstall Manager
  • Save List
It will produce a NotePad Page, called Uninstall.txt. Please copy the entire contents of that page and paste it here.
