Hi,

I can't decide which processor to go with for a new system. I'm buying from Dell, and have the choice between a Pentium 4 630 and a Pentium D 820 for roughly the same price. The P4 runs at 3 Ghz, the PD at 2.8 Mhz - although with 2 cores.

I'll mainly be using the PC or the web, music and photo editing. Which processor do you think is the best choice? Help would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

The 820 got terrible reviews when they released it, its performance was very poor, if i had to get an intel or a dell i would go for the 630 rather than an 820 for dual core as with all intel cpus you have to fork out for the quality.

But if i had the choice i wouldnt get a dell i would build it or get a custom or prebuilt from someone reliable, dells have a disadvantage of poor upgrade potential due to the use of propreitary parts.
