I am very happy to have found you guys. I have taken the preliminary steps you suggest and have seen improvement in this old machines performance. But Dr Watson debugger and a couple of Trojans persist. I am most concerned with the good Dr.'s impact. Like other users I have no Explorer or Control Panel usage.

I now know that Norton conflicts with Trend Micro, but I can not get to the control panel to delete it.

My problem with Dr. Watson remains and I still have no use of Windows Explorer or the Control Panel, except in safe mode. Since I have a second PC in the house, can anyone share with me how I might get my data off the infected machine? At this point I would give up on the Watson problem, but I need to get my tax data off this machine. Is it possible to write to a CD in safe mode?

It appears I solved the problem by following the advise in another post, so action is no longer needed. Thanks.
