hi thank you for all your previous help, i have another question.
whenever i go "start" "shutdown" the pc is still running either "ccapp" or a "power setting" or a
"connections tray" and i can not shut down (even after END NOW) pc unless i hold the on/off button for a few seconds- i believe this is not good for the pc. I get at least one per shutdown.
any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Also quickly what program do i use to run GIF images?

ccap is usually related to norton antivirus..do you have that installed?
if so check and make sure that there is not a shutdown scan setup for the virus scanner...it can cause the system not to shut down...

if you DO NOT have norton antivirus installed Please go to the malware forum in my signature and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE .

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.

as far as the gif's are you wanting to edit them? or just view them?

http://www.eecs.wsu....t/download.html try the paint.net beta...it's great

If this happens to any one the solutions is - don't turn off modem/router before shutting down.
