Can't delete Email

I try to delete emails and I get an error telling me I can't delete. It is not because my deleted file is full. I looked it up on microsoft website and they said to find a deleted items.dbx file and delete it and I should be fine but I searched for the file and it doesn't come up. I don't have that file. Not sure what to do. How do I reload just my outlook express files. I pulled out my program files and they say I have to reload the whole load and loose everything I've since loaded. Not sure I want to do that - I just want to be able to delete my emails out of my in box. Can you help? I've tried moving them to the delete box, right clicking and hitting delete - to no avail. Thanks.
