Is a total restore my only option? Will doing that rebuild the damaged files? Is there anything I should do prior to the installation? Will a restore take out Windows, I do not have a cory of xp, it was preinstalled on my system. What do I do to start the restore disc? or does it start itself? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

First let's try WinSockFix. There's a description and link to download it here: http://www.mrtech.co...sages/3425.html
