What do I need to connect with the wireless internet/? I've already got a NIC. It's a D-Link card. Do I need to get an ISP? I use a Dell Latitude CPx laptop running on Windows XP.

a wireless card is tantamount to a modem or NIC.

It allows communication, but only if you can communicate with something.

You therefore need an ISP, unless you take your laptop somewhere with a internet hotspot--then they provide the internet service and you are simply connecting to their local area network.
