If I go to IX Hosting, they go to TUCOWS to register my domain name (e.g., johnsmith.com), but they then say they own the name. Sounds fishy! Comments welcome. Am I being too paranoid?

Check your registration here:

Complete WhoIs

Check all the boxes except Custom for full info. Include your email address if you wish a copy. If you paid for the domain nome through a hosting service, there are other conditions which apply. Full ownership is only if you gain complete control of your domain name and register it yourself. you can have the hosting service renew this for you on a timely basis.

Will get back to you on this as I have to leave now for the VA.
