Hello, I was being helped a little while back but then more problems started happening. I needed to take a break before I could start again. So, here I am again.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Laptop that is probably about 3 1/2 years old. My computer is terribly slow. I played around on my own at one point and some free virus protection said it removed a virus. Also, every once in a while I get an "intrusion" blocked by it. I don't know what information can help you so I will try to give what I know.

When I start up, I get:

"TouchED Error"

Retrieval of THotkey failed
Error code 0x00031402, 0x00000002

The computer takes a very long time to start up. I can do some things but usually when IE opens it slows down, and, if I try to download anything, problems get worse. I have no disc drive as it broke down a couple weeks ago. I am tempted to buy a new computer as this one is already old but I would like to save it and hopefully fix it if possible. Also, I am worried that if I get a new one, that I won't be able to transfer or save my photos and documents without the disc drive working.

Thanks for any help you can provide,
Ted

Hi adjustment!

I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post a HiJackThis Log in THAT forum.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

Okay, I am not sure what to do? Should I solve this Spyware Search problem first before I go on to the next step.

I am not sure if I should switch to the Hijack This forum or not as I can't even get to that step. If someone can help, I would appreciate it.
