Hi! When I turn on my computer i get a black screen with white writing with a very long message that says something like "Sorry for the inconvenience.......windows didn't load b/c of a software or hardware change done on your system.......please use your arrow keys to select safe start, "something else" or start window normally" it has the "start windows normally" hilighted and it says windows will automatically start in 27 seconds and counts down......

once it gets to 0....a white bar goes across the bottom of the screen like it is loading but then it just sits there with the message on the screen.

another problem is....i can't use my keyboard, i'm assuming it's the virus. my number key light is on so i know it getting power but when i push the keys they don't work, even when i hit the caps lock key, the light doesn't turn on. I've unplugged the keyboard and plugged back in but same thing.

I've got a windows 2000 disc and a virus protection disc but when I put the virus prot. disc in before I reboot,,,,i hear it spinning but then nothing.

I called compaq help desk, they said it was something easy to fix over the phone but of course wanted me to pay $60.....can anyone help please???

Can you properly boot into Safe Mode (with Network connection)?

If so, I need a HijackThis log:

Create a directory on your hardrive to save HijackThis.exe. A directory like c:\hijackthis. If you do not do this, you will not be able to use the backup/restore features.

Download HijackThis from:

HijackThis Download Site

Save this file into the directory you made previously and then run the program named hijackthis.exe. When the program opens click on the Config button, then click on the Misc Tools button, and click on the Check for update online button. When it completes checking/applying updates press the back button.

Now click on the Scan button and when it is finished click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. A Notepad window will open with the contents of this log. Click on Edit then click on Select all. Then click on Edit and then Click on Copy.

Create a reply to this post here and right click in message area and select paste to paste the log into the post.
