Windows Media Player internet connectivity problem

Whenever I hit "Find Album Info" on a song in WMP, the panel doesn't load as normal, instead saying "You must be connected to the internet to update information about the Audio CD you have selected". Similarly, songs are not submitting via my Audioscrobbler plugin. I am connected to the internet at all times. Any help?

We could probably spend the next 6 months troubleshooting this issue and still not find the exact tweak to make it work, assuming it is not a firewall issue.

WMP is getting more and more peculiar the longer it is around

As drastic as it sounds, I would wipe out WMP and reinstall it.
