Hi All,
here is my problem.
I have a Laptop with domain cofigured. and operating system win2k3 Enterprise Edition.
I have another dekstop machine, with XP installed
Both the machine having network cards.
i connected these computers using cross cable.
XP machine is getting ip address from DHCP Server from Domain(which is laptop).
Domain has fixed ip .
now i can ping each other successfully.
further i created a shared folder on dekstop computer. or in domain(in Laptop)
but i cant access these files using \\<ip adress>\ or using \\<servername> in run command. from either of these machines
error shows as " No network provider accepted the given network path"
why??????????
further i cannot add xp machine in domain.
error as "network location cannot be reached"
any idea , tip ??
thanks

you may want to get a hub or a switch to accomplish this instead of the crossover cable...(may make a difference)

hi,

further i want to give more information about my setup
on dekstop machine, i have usb to LAN fast ethernet converter
it is showing 100 mbps once connected(i think there is no problem)
is it bcoz of that?????????????/
cross cable looks fine.
becoz i can ping successfully to each other.
and also i can open screens of each other from remote dekstop feature which is builtin in windows now
well,
if still it dont work. i have to invest in hub or switch. and also straight cables
but why it is not working
using cross cable it should work

thanks
