Hi there, I'm not sure whether this belongs in Video, software or hardware, but here's hoping someone can help...

So I got a Creative Zen Vision M for my birthday a couple of weeks ago, with the full intention of sticking 20 or so of my favourite movies on.

One problem - blinkin' computer.

While ripping from DVD it would get so far and then the computer would simply switch off. On a friend's recommendation I got a copy of Cucusoft's DVD Ripper and that seems to work perfectly - but it doesn't convert into a format tht can be usd by the Zen despite it taking a loads of formats.

So I've tried all different ways of converting the .avi files created by the DVD Ripper, from Creative's own software to freeware stuff I've trawled the net for and without fail, and without warning, the conversion is proceeding fine and then *blip* the computer just switches off - no shutdown, no warning, just off.

Why why why why why? This is doing my head in!

Thanks for any help anyone might be able to give.
