Windows ME issue

Hello. I have a Dell machine running Win ME. When I boot the machine up the Resolution is wrong and the mouse will not show up. I did not make these changes in the Control Panel. When I boot in Safe Mode the mouse is working properly. Any ideas on what is going on?

in safe mode: right click on my computer > properties > hardware tab > device manager do you see any yellow ? or !

is it a usb mouse or a ps/2 mouse

Now I have the mouse fixed but I cannot change the display on the monitor. It is giving me a message that it cannot change it in this windows session.
