I have an Askey ASDL Router in the USB for broadband - my pc has Agere System PCI Soft Modem.

Microsoft has an update for the Agere - do i need it?
Should i disable the agere modem?
Does the external ASDL Router (or any other router) require use of the Agere modem?

Any other information on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Hello sano,

The Windows update will more than likely be for the internal modem. To double check, click details on the update for more info.

Your ADSL router is a separate piece of hardware, it doesn't need the internal modem to function.
