Good Afternoon;

I came across your website last week while trying to fix one of the computers used for accounting in my company. We are a small business and several of us have spent a good four or five hours trying to fix this persisten pop-up problem - the computer has always had Norton Internet Security running, but it obviously wasn't doing too much.

After running Ad-aware SE, CWShredder, Spybot, and TDS-3 we found so many other problems. We followed instructions in the "beginners section" to a "t" but are still getting pop-ups almost immediately after re-booting - mostly from banners.search.com(?) . . .

Here is a copy of the log file:

Followed instructions in the "newbie" post before asking for help. Still receiving hundreds of pop-ups, mostly from banners.search.com(?) . . .

Welcome to the Forums, I will be reviewing your HJT log, please do these items prior to fixing your issues.

You are currently using HijackThis from a temporary directory, this can cause problems.
HijackThis creates backups, these are needed in case of any recovery issues.
Please create a directory on your C:\ drive called C:\HJT, download and unzip HijackThis into that directory. Run the program from that directory from now on.

STEPS For Creating Folder
1. Please go to My Computer, open your C:\ drive, Select: New >> Folder and name the folder HJT.

2. Download HijackThis to the new folder:

3. Double Click on 'HijackThis.zip' to extract and install HijackThis.exe to the new folder.

4. Close ALL windows except HJT

5. SCAN with HJT and SAVE LOG. (a notepad window will open with the log in it when you click Save Log) (Ctrl-A to'select all', Ctrl-C to 'copy')

6. POST the log in this thread using 'Add Reply' (Ctrl-V to 'paste')
Please make sure you post the entire log including the top portion:

DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES OR CLICK "FIX CHECKED" UNTIL WE CHECK THE LOG, AS SOME OF THE FILES ARE LEGIT AND VITAL TO THE FUNCTION OF YOUR COMPUTER [/B]

In the meantime please go to the top of this post and click on "Track This Topic".
A list of options will open. Select "Immediate Email Notification" and click "Proceed"

This should result in you getting an E-mail whenever anybody posts anything in your thread. However, it is still a good idea to check it once in a while.

Thanks,
rstones12
