After downloading and running several programs, such as 4diskclean Gold, and Advanced System Tune Up, I changed a setting which prevented me from using the mouse wheel to scroll up and down in FireFox. If I click the mouse wheel and then spin up or down, it will work, but I preferred to just being able to scroll it up and down, without having to click.
Just scrolling it up and down still works in other applications, such as mIRC.

Could be that one of these programs was a little over zealous in deleting 'unneeded' registry entries. Have you tried reinstalling firefox? It installs over itself rather well.

It's not an issue with the mouse, as it still works in every other program apart from FireFox. And it's a Dell one.

Hmm, it's working now. I believe a re-boot fixed it.
