When I go to shutdown my computer it takes a good 2-3 minutes before the window pops up to select shutdown standby or restart. After selecting shutdown, it takes another 2-3 minutes before the computer actually shutsdown.

WHY?

It's so annoying and just simply takes forever. It's never taken this long.

Please help?

Thank you for helping me. I really appreciate it.

Unfortunately, that didn't fix the problem. I downloaded and installed as directed.

I don't know if this will help, but it will only shutdown slow if the computer has been running, with or without going to sleep, for a long time. If I boot up and then go to shutdown, it's normal.

While I'm shutting down and waiting forever, the "working light" that's red doesn't blink or anything. The hard drive doesn't make a sound or anything. So, in other words, it doesn't appear to be working or anything like that.

It's weird.

You know what... I'm downloading and installing 45 security updates for my computer.

I forgot that I had to repair my registry about a month ago. So, I'll post after all of this is done with an update on whether or not the problem still exists.

Thank you for taking the time to help. I hope this fixes the problem. Sorry for any inconvenience.

You can use a program called <Regscrubxp> version 3.25 from Lexun. Use the misc. button to speed up downloads or any other corrections if needed. It will speed up your computer.

If the other fix did not work, your problem is likely a background application that is not ending properly. Report back
