Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me with this problem. I had Netscape 8.04 installed and it was working fine, but yesterday, I came home to find that it had updated to Netscape 8.1 and was displaying only blank pages, even whe the home page was set to http://www.netscape.com or any other site. I promptly uninstalled it and reinstalled 8.04, but the blank pages are still displayed, and it's very frustrating. My IE is working normally, only netscape is messed up. Interestingly, I can click on an html file on my local drive and select open with netscape, and it will open fine. It's only when I use the address bar or the home button that this happens. Can anyone help me?

Another thing that might be related is that some program called weather bug had been installed. Is this spyware? Ad-Aware did not identify it as such, and it seems pretty difficult to get rid of.

if programs are begining to install without your consent it's very likely that you are infected.
Please go to the malware forum and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE .

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty--and you may not be-- then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.
thanx

Thanks, I know about the malware forum, but I've been able to clean up the unwanted program (my kid downloaded it) and am really only concerned with the netscape blank pages. If you could please just help me with that, I'd be grateful.

Thanks

Yes, we upgraded to Netscape 8.1. I think it botched something up, because that is when the problem of the blank pages started. I uninstalled it and reinstalled the previous version, but that hasn't done anything to fix it. Sometimes, when i force it to render like ie instead of firefox, and then type in a URL, it says that the domain name can't be found, but I'm definately connected to the internet, because I can navigate to the same url with IE.

Well, I just used the netscape uninstaller, but I'm wondering if that left anything on the computer, or if it was a complete uninstall.
