Hello, this problem is happening before updating to XPSP2, it continues today, and shows this way;
When searching for any file, after start–search, nothing happens, except an error message displaying “explorer found a problem and must close”, giving option to see error details and send report to MS.
After closing message box , icons in the screen disappear, then after a while the screen refreshes and icons are coming back.
In event viewer the following two errors appear in sequence:

Event type: Error
Event source: Application Error
Event category: None
Event Id.: 1000

Time: 21:52:07

Errors repeat exactly under the same search operation.
The equipment is updated , have Mc Afee AV/Firewall, and run CWS, Adaware,Spybot , appears free from virus/spyware symptoms. PC operates correctly except for the above specific problem.

Any suggestion to fix is welcome.
Thanks,

I am having the exact same problem. It seems to happen after I install some post sp2 patches from Microsoft. I am having the problem on three brand new Dell Optiplex SX280 ultra small form factors. I bought some Dell Optiplex GX280 towers at the same time and none of these are having this problem.

What brand of computers are you using?
