Got your email ok. Can you post in more detail the steps you are taking? Even though SP2 is humongous, it should not be a problem to download although four hours sounds like you're using dial-up Internet connection. Are you?

Did you turn off any antivirus program(s)? I'm not too clear what/why WordPad is involved here on a SP2 download. SP1 installed ok?

Have you been to the Malware Section of this forum and been assured your PC is clean? Since you haven't gotten SP2 installed yet, be sure to back up all your important files. Also, do an up-to-date Restore point. Try to turn off all non-essential processes.

Double check that you have the system requirements for SP2:

To find detailed information about your system, click Start, click Run, and type: msinfo32 . The first system requirement for SP2 is that you already have a version of Windows XP installed. Then you also need the following:

• CD-ROM drive or an Internet connection
• At least a 233 MHz processor and at least 64 megabytes (MB) of RAM
• At least 1.8 gigabytes (GB) of available hard drive space

Service Pack 2 applies to all 32-bit editions of Windows XP, including Windows XP Home Edition, Windows XP Professional Edition, Windows XP Tablet PC Edition, and Windows XP Media Center Edition. It does not apply to the 64-bit Edition of Windows XP. The same media or update location is used to update all supported editions of Windows XP.

If you are on dial-up, I recommend the Automatic updates:

M$ Update

Click on "Keep current effortlessly using Automatic Updates" page link.

I'm probably overlooking something, but if your PC meets the specs and you go to the Microsoft Download page for SP2, you should be fine following the instructions. Auto-updates will allow you to get small chunks of SP2 at a time, but it must be turned on.

Major Payne, Blacki isn't only trying to download SP2. He's trying to download the entire Windows XP, and not legally either. I have already edited and closed two of his posts. Any further posting about this will result in a ban from the site.
