I don't quite understand why, but my version of this problem seems a little more severe than I've seen on the other threads. For instance, I can't "enable hidden files" as no matter how I try, desktop, start button, even from the new task in the task mgr it only leads to a big freeze which can only be remedied by ending the task and needing to start all over again.

Same is true for some of the software I see from the other threads I need.. Oddly some of it I can save and open/extract/run no prob... the HJT for insance, but others, like the all important aboutbuster no way to open, it extracts ok but no matter how I try to open no go joe.

Im also having difficulty getting the machine to go to safe mode, i ride that button like... well nevermind I dont want to break the rules on my first post, I ride it hard lets say, and I can't get it to give me the safe mode option. (I remember my last machine needed TLC to open in any other mode BUT safe mode, but this is the first time I've missed it in a year!)

Ok its a pretty nice machine so throwing it in the pool is out, any other ideas? Heres the log,

Please set your system to show
all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:
