Hope l have posted this right.
Ihave downloaded the following programs (AD-AWARE.SPYBOT-SEARCH & DESTROY. CWT SHREDDER & HIJACKTHIS)Also downloaded AVG antivirus free version. Now I would like to know if Ihave got rid of all traces of viruses etc.I have been experimenting for the past week with these programs, before I give up hope and re-boot I thought I would post my 'Hijackthis logfile' here and see what you think. The problem I seem to be having at the moment is' Explorer' which comes up with an error problem and needs to shut down then PC seems to be slow to respond.
Hope you can help.Thanx

Hi Chezz

welcome to geekstogo ;)

Please set your system to show
all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://69.42.87.219/sidesearch.html
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://69.42.87.219/sidesearch.html
R3 - URLSearchHook: IncrediFindBHO Class - {0199DF25-9820-4bd5-9FEE-5A765AB4371E} - C:\PROGRA~1\INCRED~1\BHO\INCFIN~1.DLL (file missing)
O2 - BHO: RsyncHlpr Class - {16B238D5-80DE-47CE-8F17-B3ECE2C2248D} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\rsyncmon.dll
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5C8B2A36-3DB1-42A4-A3CB-D426709BBFEB} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {C67EA70A-1DE9-1344-6308-0B06CF2A76BA} - (no file)
O16 - DPF: {11111111-1111-1111-1111-111191113457} - file://c:\ied_s7.cab
O16 - DPF: {11111111-1111-1111-1111-511111193457} - file://c:\x.cab
O16 - DPF: {11111111-1111-1111-1111-511111193458} - file://c:\x.cab
O16 - DPF: {33331111-1111-1111-1111-611111193457} - file://c:\wx.cab
O16 - DPF: {33331111-1111-1111-1111-611111193458} - file://c:\wx.cab
O23 - Service: avdwtmggrrrm (ttzkwtek6) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\System32\suovambo6.exe (file missing)

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:

C:\PROGRA~1\INCRED~1\BHO\INCFIN~1.DLL<--Delete the whole folder
C:\WINDOWS\System32\rsyncmon.dll<--Delete this file
C:\WINDOWS\System32\suovambo6.exe<--Delete this file
c:\ied_s7.cab<--Delete the whole folder
c:\x.cab<--Delete the whole folder

Exit Explorer, and reboot as normal afterwards.

The next step in this process is to apply Service Pack 1a for Windows XP. Without this update, you're wide open to re-infection, and we're both just wasting our time.
Apply the update, reboot, and post a fresh Hijack This log.

Hi again------well so far so good system does seem more stable,no shutdowns yet.I followed your instructions, the only problem I came up against was finding the 5 items you listed to delete,I have searched showing ALL files but still unable to locate them.Could it be another spyware program has deleted them.Ihave posted another log file for your advice. Thanks again for taking your time to resolve this with me.

Hi Chezz

Welcome to geekstogo

Important Step
1. Go to Start->Run and type "Services.msc" (without quotes) then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the service called:

avdwtmggrrrm (ttzkwtek6) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\System32\suovambo6.exe

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, click the Stop button, then click on properties and under the General Tab, change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok and close any open windows. If you don´t find this service listed go ahead with the next steps.

Please read through the instructions before you start (you may want to print this out).

Please go offline, close all browsers and any open Windows, making sure that only HijackThis is open. Scan and when it finishes, put an X in the boxes, only next to these following items.[/b]

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {C67EA70A-1DE9-1344-6308-0B06CF2A76BA} - (no file)
O23 - Service: avdwtmggrrrm (ttzkwtek6) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\System32\suovambo6.exe
<--Delete if found

Click on {redFix Checked} and exit HijackThis.

Reboot into Safe Mode: see here if you don't know how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them. {redIf found}

C:\WINDOWS\System32\suovambo6.exe<--Delete if found

Exit Explorer,

Download the ccleaner
I use this Program and is setup like this all boxs are check.

Clean out all temp files in Mozilla, Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer: Tools/ Internet Options/ General/ Temporary internet files/ Delete Files (NOTE, that this may take very long!). You can also set the memory limit to about 80 MB at the Settings.

Mozilla: Edit/ Options/ Extended/ Cache/ Clear Cache

ActiveX Controls could do with a big cleanup. Open your browser and go to Tools > Internet Options and click on the General Tab. Click on Settings (next to Temporary Internet Files) and then click on View Objects. Rightclick on each and choose Properties. If there is anything there that you dont know what it is (microsoft, apple, macromedia etc are OK) or where it came from, delete it. If there are any damaged controls there, delete those also. If any are needed, you will be prompted to download them again anyway.

Please run the following free, online virus scans: Please post the logs From both virus scans and HJT.log we will need them to remove previous infections that have left files on your system.

Hi.......sure I posted a follow-up to this, but I can't trace it.Maybe I drank one too many last night or I am getting confused.(doesn't take much to confuse me these days :tazz: ).Back to the problem had a couple of freezes on pc today,it seems to freeze then everything disappears from desktop then flash back, omitting firewall and a picture package menu from taskbar. Also a problem whilst running Divx todvd-------system resources low-----although this was the only program in use at the time.Pc seems ok one minute then suddenly starts to come up with a problem.
Can I safely delete the following-------
C:\WINDOWS\inf\ceres.inf + ceres.PNF
C:\WINDOWS\system32\uninst.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\unregister.exe
Virus scan seems to report them as adware or spyware but 'no action taken'.
Thanks again for taking your time to help resolve these issues.

Hi Chezz

Please download Ad-aware Se

1. If you have a previous version of Ad-Aware installed, during the installation of the new version you will be prompted to uninstall or keep the older version - be sure to uninstall the previous version.
2. After installing Ad-aware, you will be prompted to update the program and run a full scan. De-select all boxes so that it does not run.
3. Manually run "Ad-Aware SE Personal" and from the main screen Click on "Check for Updates Now".
4. Once the definitions have been updated:
5. Reconfigure Ad-Aware for Full Scan as per the following instructions:
* Launch the program, and click on the Gear at the top of the start screen.
* Under General Settings the following boxes should all be checked off: (Checked will be indicated by a green circle with a check mark in it, Un-Checked is a red circle with an X in it. If it is greyed out, those features are only available in the retail version.)
o "Automatically save logfile"
o Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal"
o Safe Mode (always request confirmation)
o Prompt to update outdated confirmation) - Change to 7 days.
* Click the "Scanning" button (On the left side).
* Under Drives & Folders, select "Scan within Archives"
* Click "Click here to select Drives + folders" and select your installed hard drives.
* Under Memory & Registry, select all options.
* Click the "Advanced" button (On the left hand side).

* Under "Log-file detail", select all options.
* Click on the "Defaults" button on the left.
* Type in the full url of what you want as your default homepage and searchpage e.g. http://www.google.com.
* Click the "Tweak" button (Again, on the left hand side).
* Expand "Scanning Engine" by clicking on the "+" (Plus) symbol and select the following:
o "Unload recognized processes during scanning."
o "Obtain command line of scanned processes"
o "Scan registry for all users instead of current user only"
* Under "Cleaning Engine", select the following:
o "Automatically try to unregister objects prior to deletion."
o "During removal, unload explorer and IE if necessary"
o "Let Windows remove files in use at next reboot."
o "Delete quarrantined objects after restoring"
* Click on "Safety Settings" and select "Write-protect system files after repair (Hosts file, etc)"
* Click on "Proceed" to save these Preferences.
* Click on the "Scan Now" button on the left.
* Under "Select Scan Mode, be sure to select "Use Custom Scanning Options".
6. Close all programs except ad-aware.
7. Click on "Next" in the bottom right corner to start the scan.
8. Run the Ad-Aware scan and allow it to remove everything it finds and then REBOOT - Even if not prompted to.
9. After you log back in, Ad-Aware may run to finalize the scan and remove any locked files that it may of found. Allow it to finish.

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working. ;)

Hi again.......Downloaded Adaware and reinstalled as suggested it only came up with a few tracking cookies to delete. So far so good you seem to have done a brilliant job,up to now there has been no strange behaviour or shutdowns. The problem I mentioned yesterday about Divxto Dvd was a problem with an incompatible program I was using to join avi's.Will post Highjackthis log report and see what you think.
Thanx again for your time and expert opinion.
