Hi,
it's not my computer but I told him I would help figure out why his computer is incredibly slow and frustrating to use. It used to perform allot better. Here is the Hi Jack log. If there is nothing there which looks suspicious, what are some other reasons things may be bogging down? There is plenty od space on the main drive.

Restart your computer.

Updating Java and Clearing Cache
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on the Java Icon (coffee cup) in the Control Panel.
  • It will say "Java Plug-in" under the icon.
Please find the update button or tab in the Java Control Panel. Update your Java then reboot.
  • If you are unable to update you can manually update by going here:
  • After the reboot, go back into the Control Panel and double-click the Java Icon.
  • Under Temporary Internet Files, click the Delete Files button.
  • There are three options in the window to clear the cache - Leave ALL 3 CheckedDownloaded Applets
    Downloaded Applications
    Other Files
  • Click OK on Delete Temporary Files Window
Note: This deletes ALL the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the CACHE.
  • Click OK to leave the Java Control Panel.
Then I think I see signs of something called LOP .. doesn't hurt to check! Please do the following:

Please download lop.zip
Unzip it to your desktop.
Go into the new lop folder and double-click lop.bat
It will run and when done a notepad will open, please copy the contents of the Notepad and paste it here.

Also paste a new fresh hijackthis log!

Hi Pomp,
thanks for helping with this. So I'm in the process of doing what you asked me to do but I just wanted to ask you a question. This computer has 128 mb but in the Task Manager under Page File Usage it says 175 mb (that's over half way up the green bar). I don't know allot about computers but does that mean it's using the hard drive for extra memory? There is hardly anything running so do you know why is it using so much memory?
-Sean.

Well, this is what I found

When paging is used alongside with virtual memory, the operating system has to keep track of pages in use and pages which will not be used or have not been used for some time. Then, when the operating system deems fit, or when a program requests a page that has been swapped out, the operating system swaps out a page to disk, and brings another page into memory. (See Page replacement algorithms for more details as to how the operating system decides which page to swap in and out.) In this way, you can use more memory than your computer physically has.

Go here to see how to show all files and folders: http://www.xtra.co.n...1916458,00.html

Find and delete the following folders (in bold):

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\acid online program cash
C:\Documents and Settings\Kirsten\Application Data\support online bags

Empty recycle bin..then restart your computer.

You're good to go...

I will just give you a few ideas on how to stay safe out there. Best of all these programs are all readily available on the net for free :whistling:
