The process CfgSrvc.exe is running on my system (not once, but twice). I suspect it is associated with an entry in my MSCONFIG "Services" tab which is listed as service "Config Service Helper" author "Unknown".

I cannot kill this process, and I want to know: is this malware, or something innocuous? I've tried searching for it on Google, but haven't found anything. Thanks for any help you can offer.

i'm finding absolutely no info on that file (someone else may know)...i see it popping up (always listed twice) in a bunch of hjt logs through google...but none of the helpers are doing anything to it (which makes me assume it's ok) you could get it scanned at one of the places bellow

Please submit the following file to one of these online file scanners.

C:\WINDOWS\System32\CfgSrvc.exe Jotti File Scan
VirusTotal File Scan
This will produce a report after the scan is complete which will tell you if they think it's malware related
