I seem to have gotten something as my computer is just going crazy. I tried following some of the downloads to help, yet most of the time Dr Watson or Jamming up somehow got in the way. I have Spybot and Ad-Aware and have done scans with them. Ad-aware on the first scan seemed to have found trojens cool sites and lots of other goodies. Yet my problems continue. I managed to get the hijackthis file and this is the result.

Please read through the instructions before you start (you may want to print this out).The following items are malware and must be fixed

Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this.

Using windows Add Remove Program Files uninstall the following Program.
C:\Program Files\Visual Networks\Visual IP InSight\SBC\IPClient.exe -l
Exit add remove programs

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapp.../search/ie.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://red.clientapp.../search/ie.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapp...//www.yahoo.com
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IPInSightLAN 02] "C:\Program Files\Visual Networks\Visual IP InSight\SBC\IPClient.exe" -l

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Reboot into Safe Mode: please see here if you are not sure how to do this.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them:

C:\Program Files\Visual Networks\<--Delete the whole folder

Exit Explorer,

Reboot into normal mode.

Please run the following free, online virus scans.

Please post the logs From both virus scans and HJT.log we will need them to remove previous infections that have left files on your system.

Hi ThatMan,

Thank you so much for helping with this issue. I followed your advice and have now run the 2 scans you asked me to. Both of them didnt find anything. I have been running them over the last couple of weeks though while trying to troubleshoot. Just so that you know, I have Panda Platinum Protection and Microsoft Antispyware. I have been on the phone with Microsoft and Yahoo SBC DSL (my service provider) for hours, yet still have not seemed to fix the problem. My Internet explorer seems to work well, but when I open my Yahoo browser window, that I normally use, With in the first screen or 2 I normally get the message saying yahoo browser has encounted a problem and needs to close. If I click on data error report I see the following: Error Signature AppName: ybrowser.exe AppVer: 2003.10.22.2 ModName: comctl32.dll ModVer: 6.0.2900.2180 Offset: 00010dd4

Then another Program error box pops up saying: ybrowser.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log has been created. There is a cancel button only that appears. Then DrWatson Postmortem debugger has encounted a problem and needs to close box comes up. If I click on the data report I see the following: EventType : BEX P1 : drwtsn32.exe P2 : 5.1.2600.0 P3 : 3b7d84a2 P4 : dbghelp.dll P5 : 5.1.2600.2180 P6 : 4110969a P7 : 0001295d P8 : c0000409 P9 : 00000000

I am not sure if this helps anymore, but that is exactly what seems to be happening. Not every time, but about 90%.

Close all programs leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following, making sure you get them all and not any others by mistake:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://yahoo.sbc.com/dsl

Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

Post back a fresh HijackThis log and we will take another look.

Hi Thatguy,

Well I have done what you said, and the latest hikack log is below. The problem still seems to be there. I am not sure if this is a related problem but my system seems to reset itself occasionally. Tonight after it sitting in standby for a few hours, I logged on to check my email, and it reset within about 1 minute. It still might be a hardware issue, as I haven't had a chance to check it all yet.

Hi Thatguy,

Just wondering if you have had any other ideas yet on how to fix this computer. I dont know if I also have a hardware problem as the reseting problem also conitnues. It seems I can leave the computer running all night and it hasent reset as the same programs were still up, yet as I get on and start using it for about 2 minutes, it resets, (generally I am in the middle of an email).

I don't know if a hardware problem could be causing this problem with the browser, but I thought I would run it by you just in case.

Lets see if this will find any hidden Trojans http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

This setup contains the free as well as the plus-version of the ewido security suite. After the installation, a free 14-day test version containing all the extensions of the plus-version will be activated. At the end of the test phase, the extensions of the plus version are deactivated and the freeware version can be used unlimited times. The purchased license code of the plus version can be entered at any time.
